HOW YOUR UPLOADS HELP AND WHY WE NEED IT
ReeFish Citizen Science Data Collection is a platform where anglers can upload their catch and become a citizen scientist. ReeFish provides a platform where anglers can participate in research while enjoying their hobby. Citizen science is a great tool in helping with scientific research by helping us learn more and by increasing the ability of information collection. The data contributed by uploaders in this platform is used by scientists to understand more about recreational fisheries and fish population. In the long run, this data can be used to thoughtfully create a sustainable recreational fishing model for recreational fishing businesses to help anglers enjoy their hobby.
HOW TO upload PHOTOS OF YOUR CATCH
Take photos of your fish
For pusposes of Species Identification, make sure the whole fish is in the frame, including the fins. It is highly encouraged to include distinctive feature of the fish. Good lighting is best to make the patterns of your fish visible. To have your gear/lure in the frame is also encouraged.
Upload your best photo
Tap on the 'Add Media' button to upload your photo. After the photo has been uploaded, view the photo and tap on the description box to add your description. You can also add description of your photo in the comment section of your photo. Mention the location, gears used, name of your fish and save it!
Scientists will use the information you upload to understand fish population, distribution of fish, relationship of fish to angling lures, in order to create a database for scientists and citizens.
